Class Presidential Elections in NP Class
November 9th saw the world change for the students of NP Class. They were filled with questions and wonderings about the election of the presidential nominees in the USA. After much teaching and questions and research the children decided they would like to experience an election and voting. So the process began! Brainstorming what duties would a Class President and VP perform. what qualities do we value and would they need to have? They voted to nominate two representatives of two different parties. Ava and Emma were nominated to run for Class President. Both girls chose a Vice Class President running mate, Zoe and Ruby. Then speeches as to why they should be voted in, Questions from the audience and then the class voted and majority ruled. It was a close race with no mud slinging and plenty of persuasive talk. Monday the 14th of November the first Class President and VP began their duties for their 1 week term of office in NP Class. Such valuable student agency and connections to their pen pals in America last week.

Every Friday at 10am we all get online and tweet our answers, upload our work and communicate with other classes throughout Aotearoa. We have learnt what makes a quality tweet as well. This terms book is called The Person Controller.

MR Class made pom pom launchers last week! The pom pom launchers were made out of plastic cups and balloons so we could do some measuring! They were a great success. We discussed and drew a fixed point from which to measure from. We found that the metre rule was the best option for us to measure with. We discussed how many CM in a M and we also looked at standard and non-standard measurements of units. Harrison even did some problem solving. We had some trouble with the balloon falling off the cup, so Harrison problem solved and asked to tape his balloon to the cup! We had great fun! Check out some of our pictures.
